Краткая история Смоленской иконы «Одигитрия»
В 1103 году Владимир Мономах передал свою семейную реликвию — чудотворную икону «Одигитрию» новому каменному храму на Соборной горе. Считается, что икона написана при жизни Божией Матери святым евангелистом Лукой. Когда написанные Лукой иконы были представлены Богоматери, то она, увидевши свой образ произнесла: «Благодать родившегося от Меня да будет с сими иконами». Полученная от евангелиста Луки икона благочестивым Феофилом поставлена была в сооруженной им в Антиохии церкви для почитания первых христиан. Позже перенесена из Антиохии в Иерусалим, отсюда в половине V века греческою императрицею Евдокиею перенесена в Константинополь сестре императора Пульхерии, которая поставила её в устроенном Влахернском храме в Константинополе. Однажды, Божия Матерь, явившись двум слепцам, привела их во Влахернский храм, даровав им прозрение. С сих пор верующие стали именовать эту икону Одигитрией, что с греческого Путеводительница.
